Post Fox news and Chavez the blasphemer

I don't necessarily support Chavez, but I'm not going to boycott Citgo and, even though he may be "up to something" I still consider it a nice gesture to give away low cost oil contracts. How could I even merit my own opinion on Chavez, however, when Fox news has purposely and openly attempted to word everything on his Harlem visitation as bigotry.

All throughout the day I heard Chavez as "The Marxist Venezuelan president who called President Bush 'The Devil' almost 24 hours ago". Lengthy description indeed, but none-the-less, it was said EVERY-TIME Chavez was mentioned. How childish can you get?

One anchor was interviewing a woman who was a Chavez suporter and he immediately said "What do you think about Chavez's remarks about Bush being the devil". This is right after he asked if she was "an American citizen" what a dumb-ass, who is the bigot here? When the young lady attempted to answer the anchor rolled his eyes and said "Why would Chavez do business with the devil?"

All throughout the course of this story Fox news bashed and demeaned Chavez in a childish bullying manor. Look, as a paid journalist, it's not my job to report my opinion in articles, it's my job to report what I see in a factual manor. It's a shame that news networks would target fickle Americans and have them hating a man they probably know nothing about. This eliminates personal opinion since, the majority of people, actually DO believe what the see on T.V. This is precisely why we have a bunch of over opinionated "arm chair warriors" shouting at the top of their lungs about things they know nothing about. It's because of news stations pulling sh*t like this. People look to the news for information, not opinion (that is left up to the talk shows). This is why no one is participating in politics or standing up for their rights. It's because they are uneducated. It's sickening, and ruining voulentary education. People should read something and research it themselves and, only after putting together the facts, make their opinion. Not just spew out whatever they're sucking up from the media.

Laughing

This was the closest thing to a nodding emoticon I could find.

Well, when NBC, ABC, CNN, CBS and all major newspaper called 9/11 a terrorist attack, does that express media's opinion? From straight journalism point of view, 9/11 attack was an attack. If you call it a "terrorist attack", you are expressing your opinion, because what CNN calls a terrorist is considered a national hero somewhere else in this world or in some corners of some US cities.

Chavez is a dictator in his own country. He doesn't allow free speech while giving a hate speech about Bush. He doesn't take care of his own people while giving cheap oil deals to some folks here. If you agree with labeling 9/11 as a "terrorist attack", I don't see the problem with Fox News here.

First of all: Why are you talking about 9/11, was I talking about 9/11? Did I mention 9/11, is this issue about 9/11? You seem over passionate about things that have no bearings on my original post. So, because of that, I'm not going to answere insanely un-linkable quesions or comments you attempted to affiliate this post with.

Second of all: You are mirroring what you heard on Fox, I know because I heard it. If you're so educated, and your opinion is your own, please give me an educated reason on why Chavez is a dictator in his own country, how he does not allow his people free speech, how he does not take care of his own people and why you believe there is no problem with Fox News (after researching the answeres to the questions I just asked).

OK, thanks. And, please, be educated.

No, you didn't mention 9/11, but your original post was about whether Fox was objective or fair. My question is: why is it fair for CNN, ABC, NBC and CBS to call Bin Laden a terrorist, but not fair for Fox to take a crack at Venezuelan clown?

Where have you been? Here is the hint: the clown is Fidel Castro's adopted half brother, or almost. You'd thin he is democracy-loving president. No, I don't have Fox News channel, so I don't watch.

Well, I hope you have the other news programs you are mentioning. Either way, again, where are your educted reasons on why Chavez is a dictator in his own country, how he does not allow his people free speech, how he does not take care of his own people and why you believe there is a problem with Fox News?

As far as your question is concerned I will answere with a question of my own: why is it fair for you to call Chavez a Venezuelan clown? Should I consider you a pirate mime?

As far as "the clown" being Fidel Castro's adopted half brother (or almost....?) so?

Look, let me clear things up for you. As a journalist, and one who strives to be factual, I reserve my personal opinion through personal conversation and blogs such as these. You can poke labels at any news programs for, ironically, conjuring labels. Or, you can just agree that it's stupid to really label anything in a news report.

Listen, I just happened to be watching Fox that day, I'm a busy person, I can't watch all news stations (and there wouldn't be so many if they didn't battle for the most controversial opinion). So, I attacked Fox (which you don't even watch) so, since you don't watch Fox, and you don't like news stations labeling people...where are our differences?

All the stuff before that was just sarcasm, you're exactly right. What say you to an accord eh? An accord of opinion, that news should just report on the news and facts, then, we can hear the opinions later (over a nice glass of wine with good company). Savvy?

OK,

-William

dear will,
i am currently reading the han solo star wars trilogy novels. they begin with a 19 year old thief, who gorws up to be the scruffy(but not entirely ruthless) smugler. and end, or so i'm assuming(i'm barely beginning on the 3rd novel now), with the familiar character in episode iv: a new hope. if any of you opponion.com viewers are interested beyond the movies of star wars, then i suggest you read these. you'll have an entire new perspective on solo and why he tends to have the mannerisms he does.
